Summary of Options
One of the most common questions we get from contractors is “what are my options for getting paid”. The ways to get paid can include
- Going on a local payroll in the host country (i.e. getting paid in the country you’ll be working in)
- Staying on the payroll in your home country
- Setting up your limited company in the host country
- Using your existing personal limited company in your home country
- Using an umbrella company
- Splitting your salary
But your available options might be limited by a range of factors. Some solutions might not be available. For example, if you need work visa sponsorship to work in Dubai then you won’t be able to get paid through your existing UK Ltd company.
Similarly, once you look at all the factors some options might become more or less attractive. We work with you to understand all the variables such as:
- The country you will be working in
- Your nationality
- Your rate of pay
- Your situation (are you single? Do you have a spouse and dependents?)
- How long is your contract is
- How long do you plan to be in the host country
- How much you’ll earn through each option
- What expenses you will be incurring
- What your goals are (e.g. do you want to save for retirement? Or maximise your monthly net pay?)
How we help
We’ll work with you to understand what is important to you and let you know what your options are. We can then introduce you to the best companies for each option.
