The Tier 2 UK work permit is sponsored by an employer. If you have an offer of a job your employer will have ensured that there are no suitable UK or EU nationals to fill the role beforehand. The UK work permit allows you to work in the country for five years, but if you change employer you have to alter you permit to match.

Who Needs a Tier 2 UK Work Permit?

Most of the workers who enter the UK from outside the European Economic Area will do so using a Tier 2 UK work permit. There are some exceptions, such as if any of your grandparents were born in the UK or if you’ve been living with a UK citizen for two years, but virtually anybody else will need one.
