Tier 1 PSW route closed April 2011 - students must get Tier 2 Visa to work in UK

The UK Border Agency / Home office announced that from April 2011 they are closing the Tier 1 (Post-study work) route, which had allowed students 2 years to seek employment after their course ends. From April 2011 graduates will need to get a job offer from a qualified sponsoring employer through the Tier 2 scheme of the points-based system. Only by being sponsored for a Tier 2 Visa will students be able to stay for work in the UK after their studies.

Students will still be able to work 20 hours a week whilst they are studying.
